OT - See the Galaxy for less then 30 Altarian $$

Just started reading the HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy again. Was wondering if anyone here had ever read it/is reading it.

Had read it many years ago, now reading it as an "adult" (some would disagree with my description of adult at times), and at times I laugh so hard it hurts.

Anyone here ever read it? Favorite part? Ever have a Pan Galactic Gargle BLaster and survive? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

"going into hyperspace is unpleasantly like being drunk"
"What's so bad about being drunk?"
"Ask a glass of water."

That I can concur with. This book is a great read. What else can I add? I have a mind to quote an extract of the wonderful poetry contained in this book, but somehow I believe it might not be such a good idea.

Incidentally, if you get the opportunity, Douglas Adams worked with Infocom in two of their games: the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (fairly obviously) and Bureaucracy. So if you have at least a mild interest in interactive fictions and enjoy weird puzzles, I would definitively recommand these two games.

I have read the entire series, and they are some of my favorite books. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I enjoy Douglas Adams' style of writing.

Aaack, now I remember that picture of Marvin that's going to be in the new movie.. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Wasn't he also involved in "Spaceship Titanic". I didn't play the game, but I did unfortunately read the book by Terry Jones. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

I think it was Starship Titanic, but yes, he was involved.

And I've read the series several times, and the laughs are always there. I just feel sad that there will be no more work from DNA.

I was sad to hear that Mr. Adams passed away. I am looking forward to the new movie. I hate to say it, but the old BBC Version was just painful to watch.

Has anybody read "The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul" and "Salmon of Doubt"?

Other than the Hitch-Hiker series, I have read "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" and "Last Chance to See" but I haven't read those other two. How are they?
