Dispelling your own globals

I can accept that if I cast a global when there are already five up, it's random which my new one will be competing with - it may even be one of my own.

But if there are only three up, surely I should be able to cast a new one without a fight, right?

I had GoH and Mother Oak up, and Caelum had Dark Skies. I just cast Eyes Of God, and immediately after the Dire Portent message I got another message which says "your global enchantment was dispelled when another global enchantment was created". Sure enough, the GoH is gone, but there are still only three up - Eyes, Oak and Dark Skies.

Is this a bug? Or do you only have an X in 5 chance of casting into one of the X free spaces???

Re: Dispelling your own globals

If any globals had already been dispelled (possibly by caster death, etc), I think this is a known bug - the game still thinks there are 5 and thus dispels one.

A-hah! Thank you, that explains it. Pythium had had two globals up, which died when he did.

A funny associated bug happened when I recast my GoH: I still got the "your global ench was dispelled" message, but all three were still up. It must have sent the message to me instead of to the dead Pythium empire.

I guess that means I have only 1/5 chance of casting into the remaining empty slot. 3/5 chance of dispelling one of my own globals. Ho hum.

Does this bug remember the strength of the dead enchantments (ie. how many extra gems were put in)? Or will it treat them as +0?

This is an annoying bug that should not be too hard to fix.
There is an another bug that I think may be related.
Sometimes, when you eliminate another empire through
dominion suppression, its globals remain.
