How do you stack or join Groups of fighters?
 

I have a whole bunch of Groups of 7 fighters that are exactly the same. CAn I join them together or do I have to make a fleet out of them?

If you land and relaunch some, they'll merge.

I remember that before Last patch you could add fighters into fleet. Though not anymore.

Fighters need to be retrieved by a carrier or planet. When relaunched they regroup. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Also, fighters are great in early games, but are easily countered in later games with Point Defense Cannons (PDC's) in the later parts of the game.

They are best served as planetary defense, along with Weapon Platforms.

I've always made sure i Keep a few carriers with my fleets. Some AI's like to use Weapons Platforms with Weapons that can't target fighters. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Ah true, but in most cases the fighters are just cannon fodder for PDC's.

I still have no problems fleeting fighters, and when you have a couple of hundred in one location, you need to.
