Send Colony Ship?
DOes anyone know if the "Send Colony SHip" button works? When your looking at the list of planets, and you try to send a colony ship, and you pick a planet to send a ship to... nothing seems to be happening in my simultaneous moevment single player game...

Re: Send Colony Ship?
I normally never had a problem sending colony ships, but sometime the planet chosed is already colonized by another player and this fact is not recognized in the list of colonisable planet beaucause it happen after your Last unit leaved that system. In this case none happen if you send a colony ship.
I hope this can help you. About your Last message:if the planet is already colonized when you try to send a colony ship but you can't know that beaucause you don't have a ship in that system, your colony ship don't load population and don't start moving at all. Re: Send Colony Ship?
in sim games you also will not see results till next turn.

Re: Send Colony Ship?
No in both cases, the ship would move to the planet and then won't be able to colonize it if somone else has it already... I've had that happen before. The problem is the ships don't load population and they don't start moving at all. I check the ship's orders after I use the "send colony ship" command, and they have orders to load population from the planet they are at and then to move to the selected planet and then colonize it; but nothing happens and the next turn they have no orders at all.

Re: Send Colony Ship?
This works fine for me in a turn based game. But I always load population manually and then send them from the planet screen. You might try it this way......

Re: Send Colony Ship?
Personally, I've never had a problem with it... and actually use it fairly often. partly because of the fact that you can't screw up and send the wrong kind of colony ship... and party because I can then see if I already have a ship going there.

Re: Send Colony Ship?
I think I've encountered this same problem, but only when I've put the colony ship in a fleet with an armed escort. When I gave the fleet the Colonize order, I'd get an error message that the escort couldn't load any cargo, and the fleet wouldn't have any orders. I've gotten around this by manually loading the colonists and moving the fleet away from the planet before issuing the Colonize order. (This also has the slightly odd result that the orders list ends up with a Load Population order between Move To and Colonize, but since there's no population to load at the target yet, that order doesn't do anything.)
