Text Only Dom2 Server

I would like to set-up a dom2 text only server for use on a linux machines that is acting as a gateway. However, trying to run the server in text only mode (dom2 --tcpserver --textonly) gives an error trying to read libGL.so.1, presumably because I still need the shared libraries for video. (As my server is a gateway, it is pared down to exclude unessential things like libGL.)

Does anyone know if it's possible (and how) to run a dom2 server without libGL installed on the linux box?

It's not possible. I just installed XFree86 4.3, I think it was. You don't have to run X; it's not actually called, but ldd doesn't know that.

If you have an Apache server I have some Perl scripts you might find useful... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif See http://www.mosehansen.dk/cgi-bin/dom2.pl http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I ended up loading alot of gui that I didnt want in order to get it to run. I dont actually run any of the gui environments so the only "damage" was the harddrive space used up.

However, once its done its a sweet arrangment. I wish every multiplayer game *cough*SEIV*cough* couild run its host in text mode on linux. JohanK seems to really like command-line switches and has put in just about every one we could come up with. So now dom2 scripts very nicely with cron and web-page creation and sendmail and 3rd party map-generators. A sweet core for building any kindof MP game support you want.

Well, I suspected that might be the case. Thanks for the quick answers.
