Modifiying Proportions\' graphics.

I saw that graphic pack at spaceempires.net, and I wanted to know how can I use that with Proportions without breaking the game.
The thing is, that some of the graphics used in Proportions are not there (Cultural centers, etc.) so I wanted to know what would happen if I swapped the graphics.

what exactly are you talking about ? Proportions is using the imagemod, so in fact you already have access to ALL images. You could just change the bitmap numbers in the datfiles, this wouldnt break a game but it would make MP unpossible. Sorry i didnt understand you right.

No, it doesn't. It includes all of the graphics used by the mod in the download, and they do not match up with images in the Image Mod. Also, many images in Proportions are not present in the Image Mod.

Not quite true. Proportions 3.0 is using its own bmps for components and facilities. So you'll have to merge components.bmp and facilities.bmp from both sources (for mini pictures). Also copy 128x128 bmp from pack to proportions/pictures directory for larger pics. There will be lots of conflict between file names and places in compiled components.bmp and facilities.bmp so a lot of copy/paste work is awaiting for you. All this mess is to keep MP compatibility.

What is the "graphic pack at spaceempires.net"? Is it the same as the Image Mod? If so, that mod actually doesn't change anything's appearance - it just combines the graphics from many mods (besides Proportions) into one, so that people can cut their download time and perhaps share some images between mods.

If you overwrite the graphics in Proportions mod, then the Proportions stuff will get replaced with other things, unless the mod was made with Proportions in mind.

If you want some more pictures for Proportions, though, you could try Dogscoff's Proportional Response Pack, which does add some ship images to some existing races.

Yes.

It also has a bunch of images that might not even be used by any mods. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/stupid.gif

Nope. You would have to change the numbers of the images used in the Proportions files to accomodate new positions for the images, were they to be added to the Image Mod. Doing so is quick and painless, but if it is done by anyone other than PvK in an official patch, it will mean that you can not play with other people using the mod, due to data file incompatibilities. You can of course create a copy of Proportions to make image file changes in.
