Question about the surround bonus

I think this is in the manual but I can't find it so I'm asking you guys!

Is the surround bonus/penalty -1 to defence per unit who is attacking or -1 to defence and -1 to protection.

Also is it -1 per attack or -1 unit?

Also are the unit's attacking considered as the turn proceeds or calculated at the start of the turn and applied to everyone the same?

Finally, are 4 squares considered adjacent for this bonus/penalty or 8?

Thanks in advance!

This stuff is in Liga's Manual Addenda. Get it. ASAP.

Every attack against a unit lowers the defense of that unit by 1 for the remainder of the turn.

BTW, it's 8 adjacent squares. Seriously, though, get Liga's manual. It's a quick download from my site. You won't regret it.

Actually no, defence reduction due to being surrounded is not in the addenda. There is a section header 6.2.3 "Defending against multiple attacks", but it is blank.

Argh! That's my fault. I meant to add that in, as I did with section 6.4.2 (re: hitting with magic). It's now on my list for the next release. Sorry, and thanks for the catch.

Re: Question about the surround bonus

So being surrounded does not affect protection (which makes sense since prot is raw armour), not even to the extent of the shield being ignored or something along those lines?

Might be a nice additon, i.e. if getting attacked from behind any shield protection should surely have a chance of being ignored, etc?

Apart from that I cant think that there should be any prot penalty for being surrounded, I suppose there are always AP and AN attacks to deal with high prot whereas as high defence has no counter except surround?

well, fatigue increases the chance for armor penetrating hits, so I think that's already covered...

Re: Question about the surround bonus

Fatigue isnt much of a problem for an SC with life drain, of course. Barring that like I said I dont think its a super important issue.

every succesull attack or just every attack ? and every attack means weapon or attack ... let me explain, tangle wines are 3 attack each ... that means that after a tangle vines round (2 tangle wines = 6 attack) for other foes attacking me in the same round I got a -6 def reduction ?

...

so, after that, UI could include in the manual addenda!

good play
