OT: Interesting Discoveries

Interesting Discoveries

Oh boy, talk about discoveries that should go undiscovered.

1. Safeway Select Diet Root Beer pop tastes like cough syrup.
2. Safeway Select Diet Cola with Lemon tastes like Pine sol smells. (The stuff you clean your toilet with.)
3. When they say buy one get on free, you are still paying full price for both.
4. Check out scanners are seldom accurate.
5. If they ring up your item wrong, at least in the state of WA, it’s free. J This was a nifty tid bit that I did not know until a nice old lady at the check out counter told me when the scanner rang up my Star Trek TOS season 1 DVD at the wrong price thus allowing me to get it for free.
6. People who have perfectly healthy apple trees on their property with googles of apples will still go to the store and buy the wax pLastic ones they sell.
7. The weigh scales are always WRONG.
8. The freshest milk is always in the back of the rack.
9. Made fresh daily does not mean MADE FRESH DAILY.
10. Paper or PLastic does not mean Cash or credit. (While working for Fred Meyers, I asked a lady if she wanted paper or pLastic, referring to the bags, she looked at me and with a scowl on her face told me that I had no right to ask her such a question and wanted to speak to may manager. So I called her over and the old lady proceeded to tell her how rude I was to ask her if she was going to pay with paper or pLastic. My manager politely informed her that I was asking if she preferred paper or pLastic bags.)

In the decade that I worked in retail I discovered a great many things that should never have been discovered. Like why do Fat people buy hordes of junk food and DIET pop. Because Diet Pop has no sugar. Duhhhhhhhhh.

Why now do I share these discoveries with you, well mainly because I am hideously board to death and well, drinking Safeway select diet cola with Lemon. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwww. Back to the expensive stuff for me.

This post and your other one on "can you live on $1000 a month" sounds like you've hit on hard times. Occasionally my wife makes me drink Select or RC when we're low on money. I'm a big time Pepsi drinker (that's my coffee) I still work part time at Freddys in N. Portland to pay for the finer things in life (Heineken, Xbox games) and the kids private schooling. If you want to get a deal on home electronics, wait until their out of stock on something you like and buy the display model for 10% off. If they don't volunteer the 10% off, then demand it.
I've also noticed that Portland Cops look like they are taking steroids or something. There are some unusually meaty, thick necked, weird looking officers out their with bad attitudes.

OMG. #10. That's just plain funny. You know, living in Florida where all the snow birds congregate for half of the year, I've never heard of that happening. Maybe it has, but I've just not heard of it.

A discovery I wish my wife would make. When I buy my dvd's at Suncoast, where I pre-order my movies, is that the price tag on the movie isn't what they sell it for when it first comes out. Usually I can get the dvd for $5-$10 cheaper than what it says on the tag (unless it's a box set). But my wife will look at the tag, and think that's what I paid for it. My wife should know by now. I'm cheap, and if I can get a dvd for the cheapest price, I'll buy it for the cheapest price.

Various commercials:

'It's new and improved!' - If it's a new formula, then it isn't an improvement on the old one, it's an improvement on the results of the old one - an entirely different thing. If it's improved, it's not new.

'Our new, old-fashioned, tried and true method!' - Do I really have to explain?

'You're worth it!' - Implying that if you don't buy the product, you must not have a very high opinion of yourself. Correction: I have too high an opinion of myself to fall for your crappy commercial.
