Planet Pop Status Bar Meaning?
Does anyone know what levels of population each "notch" on the population status bar represent? From casual observation I have noticed that all 3 boxes are displayed for a population of 1000M or greater, and of course zero boxes for zero population. What about for 1 or 2 boxes? And are these fixed numbers that trigger the pop status bar or are there different levels based upon planet size, game settings, or whatever?

Re: Planet Pop Status Bar Meaning?
I think they're orders of magnitude:
0 box = 0-9M population 1 box = 10-99M 2 box = 100-999M 3 box = 1000M+ |
Re: Planet Pop Status Bar Meaning?
I think you're right.
The problem with this is that on huge worlds, the pop bar fills when the planet is only 1/8 the max pop. I think they should just make it a percentage of the possible max pop of the planet instead. That would be a much more meaningful graphic, IMO. |
Re: Planet Pop Status Bar Meaning?
It's even worse for sphereworlds, which can hold trillions of people

Actually testing is always better than just trusting your memory of what you've seen. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Planet Pop Status Bar Meaning?
Capnq, I did some testing and my results are as follows:
# boxes Population 0 0 1 1 through 199 2 200 through 999 3 1000+ I agree that the bars should represent a percentage and perhaps there should be 4 boxes to indicate 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, or full. Perhaps there could be even be an option to display the actual population above the bar. |
