Possible to add a player to the game after start?

I have a player that wants to get into the game. WE have not yet finished turn one on the server. Can I just add his pretender file to the game, restart the server and have his nation activated?

THanks.

No, this is not possible. The only solution is to stop the game, and recreate a new one with the same settings as your current game, and have everyone re-upload their pretenders. If you are talking about a game that is on the mosehansen server, you should definitely create the new game immediately after stopping the old game, as slots tend to go quickly, in mosehansen. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

To avoid problems for the players, you'll want to rename the directory for the new game and then have the players reconnect. Otherwise, the players may have already downloaded a .trn file, have a starting position, units, etc, that won't be applicable to the new, restarted game.

You can't just use the current .2h files, because if _any_ of the players has done his / her turn, it isn't the god upload anymore and the game will crash with an "Unable to load god" message.

So, if your game was "Shadows of Darkness", start the server again with "Shadows of Darkness2", and have everyone reconnect and upload their god - this minimizes problems and allows you to ensure that you have the gods, and not a turn 1 file, while preventing the players from getting a stale turn on turn 1.
