Funny Thing

I was playing a STM game Version 1.75 anyways I used the Star trek map and I had all the settings set to high including events, (High Frequency and Catastropic) I was playing as the Dominion and second turn you would never geuss what happened. The Star exploded in my home system and all my stuff went by by. Just though would share this abstractly funny story

I made a scenario out of a similar event.

I was playing like a neutral race, sticking to one system, and only letting a handful of scouts out for quick peeks to chart the nearest systems.

I was up to near-max tech with a really nice, fully colonized and optimized system.
Then one of my stars (binary system) went unstable.

I saved it, and added some scenario-type "meeting with your ministers" screens along with a countdown.
You've got a mere 30 turns to build transports, shove your people in and then attack through the warppoints to push an AI out of its established territory before your system goes boom and you have to mothball all your dreads.

Then you have to eke out an existence with puny little colonies under hostile atmospheres while huge AI empires run around the galaxy.

If you have SE4 classic (v1.49), you can download it from http://imagemodserver.mine.nu/other/MM/SE4
Get the scenario (under scenarios), plus P&N v2.3c (under mods).

I had three star systems blow in succession on a small map. Fortunatly, I was only fighting ai, I had 5-8 other star systems and planet and a star maker and I managed to get most of the people out, so it was only a temporary loss. I won that game.

Hee hee... Reminds me of when I was beta testing SE4. The very first game I ever played, my sun exploded after the first turn! I remember staring at the screen for about ten minutes from the shock of the anti-climax and wondering if it was a bug. Next few games all had nice stable stars though...

This occuring is like drawing a royal flush. I has happened to me only once in all the games I have ever played. I think it also happened in a PBW game, but the star never exploded.

I usually play with events set to catastrophic with low frequency. I've never had my sun blow up. I've had my planets blow up, though.

The one where three went, I think was high and catastrophic.
