Connection is broken - can not upload turn

Good day all,

(Also poseted in the MP forum, see Fools Lament II )

I am having all sorts of problem with a specific dominions 2 game. Let me try to describe it.

I have no problem connecting to the game and playing my turn. When I try to "End turn", it freezes and I get a "connection to server is broken". So far, it could be normal, so I relaunch dom2 and connect to the server, enter my password, then it freezes again, and I get a "connection to server is broken". I.E. I can not upload my turn. I can try as many times as I want, it will not send my turn.

I tried many manipulations, all with this same result:
1) Remove .2h file and replay: If I go to the game directory and remove the .2h file, then I can connect to the server and play my turn (again). But when I click "end turn" it freezes, and I get a "Connection to server is broken". Any subsequent try to upload the file fails with a "connection to server is broken" after I enter the password (same behavior).
2) Remvoe the .trn and .2h: If I remove both the .trn ad .2h file, I have to reselect my nation, etc... And then it freezes on "End turn", and I get "connection to server is broken". Etc..

The only thing that seems to work (at the moment) is to upload my turn in the morning (Montreal, Canada). If I try to upload my turn around 8-9AM, then the upload gets thru to the host.

I am in two other MP games, and while I sometimes have connection issues, it is nothing like this one.

Any ideas?

Try to run Ethereal or equivalent and record network activities when you have problems. It sounds like a network problem (especially, if other players in the same game can connect just fine).

Hi,

it seems that my packet size was causing some trouble, I talked to my ISP and they suggested to lower the MTU setting on my router to 1440, and it seems to work fine now.
