trapeze/teleport - how it works in seige situation

Hi,

I posted a few days ago to find out how trapeze/teleport and battle sequence works, particularly what happens when I trapeze/teleport into a province containing enemy troops. Chazar confirmed that the sequence is:
1) trapeze/teleport
2) battle between troops that teleported in and enemy army
3) regular movement occurs (i move in an army by foot)
4) another battle occurs between troops from 3 and the enemy army

Can anyone else comment on whether this sequence is correct?

Also the following situation occurred:
Enemy devil army besieging one of my castles, ready to assault as defenses are broken.
My castle contained 3 troops, no leaders.
I cloud trapezed and teleported in about 5 commanders (wrathing crew).

I expected to see 2 battles:
BATTLE 1: wrathing crew vs his army
BATTLE 2: his assault on my castle after wrathing crew retreated in battle 1

Instead I saw one battle. This battle consisted of his army assaulting the fortress with my wrathing crew _INSIDE_ the castle. Then to my surprise the wrathing commanders were able to retreat out of the castle assault battle.

So, when can defending commanders retreat out of castle battle? (I thought never)

And why didn't I see 2 separate battles, i.e. why were wrathing commanders able to slip past beseiging army into the castle to fight there?

Thanks for any answers. I'm confused.

Re: trapeze/teleport - how it works in seige situation

When you teleport into a province that contains a castle of yours, you
end up in the castle. If a besieging enemy does not assault the fort,
there will be no battle. If the province is yours, an enemy invades
it, and your troops teleport on that turn, they will not participate
in the battle for the province.

That is just the way it works. If you have to choose between the two
alternatives, this is the better one... as long as you know how it
works, and take advantage of it.

Hey ho! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif You did not mention the castle in that previous thread: CloudTrapezing into a friendly but besieged Castle causes the CloudTrapezers to teleport right behind the safe and cosy castle walls! I recall that I suffered exactly from this when hunting Ulm in our common ongoing game... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif I think the game is missing the analog to "move and patrol" like "teleport and patrol"...

Sorry that I didnt recall this when you asked your first question, honestly...

To my knowledge and experience (i.e. V2.08 through V2.14) they always could!

...and this is indeed the correct historic behaviour, since everybody knows that every castle always has some super-secret escape tunnel, so its just the battle graphics which are buggy by not showing the tunnels... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

(Yes, I actually do know that escape tunnels being marched through by entire armies of size-6 mammoths might be a bit tight, but I am just joking in the previous paragraph right?)
