Re: Warp Weapons
The most common use I've seen discussed for them is on bases, with the combination of tractor beams, short-range/high damage beams and then repulsor/wormhole beams. Since weapons fire in the order they are listed on the ship, this grabs ships, pulls them next to the base, rips them apart and then flings the wrecks away from the base.

Re: Warp Weapons
They are quite useful. Knock half of the enemy fleet to random places and you only have to deal with half of their fleet now. The rest will fall in ones and twos, depending on just where they were warped to. You can defeat much larger forces with judicious use of wormhole beams. Just be wary of losing noncombatant support ships when an enemy war ship is flung next to them...

Re: Warp Weapons
I'll often put one on my larger ships, just to break up the enemy fleet and keep them from concentrating their fire in any one place

Re: Warp Weapons
I used them recently against a Religious race. Fire first (hopefully) then fling them away before they use their talisman. Can't say as it worked much since they rolled over me, and i was 4th (they were probably 1st).

Re: Warp Weapons
Tractor beams are also limited in that they only work on ships the same size as the attacker or smaller. You could equip very small ships with wormhole beams and then they can move an enemy.

Re: Warp Weapons
Yeah, i hate when the enemy warp near a poor support ship or a damage one, still maybe it worth using them
