Sequence Questions
I have two sequence questions regarding preaching, unrest and income, both of which I need answers to, in order to decide whether it is worthwhile for a preacher to preach, on the turn where I know an opponent's God will be vanquished:
1) In the manual, there is a step in the sequence of order resolution (near the end of the sequence), I would guess that preaching effects to increase dominion occur in this phase - correct? 2) I would also guess that unrest increase due to negative dominion occur in the dominion effects phase - which occurs first preaching or unrest increase from negative dominion? TIA, Thufir |
Re: Sequence Questions
AFAIK, the manual seems wrong there, for the effect of preaching definitely occurs before the ordinary combat phase. Would be interesting to check out when exactly...

Re: Sequence Questions
Combat reduces local dominion, doesn't it? We've seen proof, at least before 2.14, that dominion-altering effects such as the presence of a god or prophet take place before combat, meaning that a god that attacks a neutral-dominion province is likely to end up fighting in friendly dominion.
The question is, does combat's dominion reducing effect also take place before the battle, or only afterwards? If so, does it take place before or after other dominion effects? Could one attack a neutral province, turn it friendly, and then turn it neutral again by staging a battle there, all before the battle actually takes place? And what about multiple battles, or battles which take place before the movement phase? Is preaching handled before, after, or during all of this? Hold on, does negative dominion cause unrest? I hope not. I should pay more attention to this kinda stuff. Anyway, I'm not sure in what order most unrest-related things happen(Though I'm pretty sure patrolling happens after combat, possibly including combat resulting from patrollers finding a spy or sneaking army), but I do know unrest-increasing(And presumably unrest-reducing, as well) magic sites take effect after patrolling, taxation, and pretty much everything else. No idea where spells such as Illwinteror Burden of Time come into play. |
Re: Sequence Questions
I'm pretty sure negative dominion causes unrest. I didn't know however that combat reduces dominion. Is that right?

Re: Sequence Questions
Negative Dominion causes unrest. Battles cause unrest. Blood Hunting causing unrest. These are all "natural" reasons for unrest in your provinces. Left alone with positive dominion and no battles and no blood hunting, outside of Spies, Globals, and spell factors the unrest will not rise.

Re: Sequence Questions
I think stealthy preacher take effect after magic phase and before ordinary. Can anyone confirm that?
