OT-Half-Life 2 is a great…

Half-Life 2 is a great game if you like games that do not run. Yes I have update my drivers and that steam thing (programme) said I should be able to play half-life 2 offline but it won’t run at all. On the plus side the box art is good and the art in the hint book is ever better. FYI My computer exceeds the recommended specs by a good margin. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif

Talk to a person, not a program.

Posting as much detail as possible about your system setup and any error Messages given in the game would help in figuring out what the problem is.

I have read that the problem has to do with the persons video card. If your card will not run Deus EX or Doom3, your screwed.

Caution this post will reveal details of the story line in Half-Life 2 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

Half-Life 2 is in fact a good game: it does everything that a good FPS game should do. It also does it extremely well. But the game story line is just bad. Gordon Freeman is apparently world famous after the black mesa incident. So the fact that at the start of Half-Life 2 he has his picture taken by a security drone and this does not result in any response by the station security is very strange. Another thing is that the way Gordon joins up with the resistance run by his former black mesa colleagues. This is laughable. ‘Look Gordon Freeman is back. We haven’t seen him for nearly ten years so let’s tell him all of our secrets.’ That is just too strange. Oh, by the way, the sentence for working for the resistance is death or a trip to an off world labour camp. This makes their attitude even stranger. I really expected the game would have a more believable story line.

I have heard first hand that the graphics are simply the best ever next to Farcry.

To be honest, Farcry is my pick for game of the year. I have not yet bough HL2 because it is so over priced. And I hear it takes a long time to validate your code to play. And that if you do not have an ISP you cannot play. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif And no multiplayer. I smell a Sid Games sneak attack here. Lets release the SP game for $60.00 and then six months later release the MP game for another $60.00. WTF .... People are so stupid that they will accept this practice with open pocket books. We are all sheep in that companies lead us around by our noses.

And they wonder why piracy is so rampant...

Good point. But with HL2, you have to have an Internet connection each time you play so the game can validate your license each and every time you play. And this is just for SP.

It doesn't.

True.

Counter Strike is the multiplayer. (Even though it's a different game entirely).
