Small Question regarding Fires from Afar et al.
Hi there all!
Back, at least briefly, from my long absence; hope all is well with you. I am now a father, and that may mean that I will be absent yet again as RL sets my priorities now. Hope no-one minds. (As if you noticed my absence anyhow!) Right, on to the question: In MP, there is province X in which nation 1 is besieging nation 2. If nation 3 casts Fires from Afar (or a similar damage-from-a-distance spell) at Province X, who gets whalloped? - The Defender - The Besieger - The nation with the largest army - The nation with the smallest army - Random - Something else (please specify) This involves an MP game I am involved in (the only game I am playing now, alas), and would need a very reliable answer within the next couple of days -- can you help please? Merci! |
Re: Small Question regarding Fires from Afar et al
Methinks it's the besieger, simply because the description states besieged defenders may use the spell in this manner. 'course, it may be that nation 2 and 3 would get different results from casting FfA at province X, but Occam's razor seems to preclude this.

Re: Small Question regarding Fires from Afar et al
Thanks!
Actually, the description reads: "[...] The spell can also be used to harass a besieging force or the defenders of a castle. [...]" So if nation 3 were either of these, the results would be clear, but I find it far from clear if nation 3 is casting at X in which nations 1 and 2 are in: does the spell "harass" the defenders or the besiegers? |
Re: Small Question regarding Fires from Afar et al
A massive Fire From Afars bombardment has resulted in no losses for the defender, while the besieged lost some troops. So the description seems to be correct, and the nation involved does not seem to matter.
