Map Editor?

Is there a newer Version of the map editor, or an alternative, available? The reason I ask is that the one I have is fairly old and I'm curious to see if any new tools or features have been added.

The most recent Version of the map editor is 1.65 and I don't think many, if any, improvements have been made to it since Gold launched. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

Also, a third party map editor would be fairly difficult to create, since the map files are encrypted...

Oh well... I was kinda hoping for a quadrant generator that lets you set a specific number of systems to generate, and the ability to generate a system at any grid coordinate by selecting from the systemtypes.txt file. Would also be cool to have a feature where you can just click and it will automatcially generate warp routes for the current system, or the ability to rename a system and have it automatically rename all of the planets to fit...

Stuff like that would be great. Maybe MM will read this eh? (wink, wink)

Further updates are unlikely; Malfador is basically just one guy (Aaron Hall) and he's making SEV right now.

Hopefully, SE V will come with a better map editor. A complete scenario editor would be really nice, too.

i agree. it is interesting that the toys in the sand box can be customized but not the sand box itself. A huge downfall.

I suggest you send Aaron an email stating this...
