Possible bug??: territory flips to enemy
1 Attachment(s)
First off - love D2 - can't wait to see more. I love a game with depth. I'm still struggling with winning a default indy game against difficult enemies, but I'm getting there... I'm also appreciative of the forum contributors for informing us all.
Forgive me if this has been discussed in other threads, but I thought I would take the time to document a possible bug. Maybe I'm crazy, but in the game I am playing, one of my stronghold territories flips to the enemy between turns, and when my re-inforcements come, I am attacking a defending force. Yet, there is no message of them taking my castle, and the turn prior I was in control of the castle. If anyone had time to investigate, I put up the save files (before and after) at: http://lachniet.com/d2bugmaybe.zip It is also attached to this mail. Or I could e-mail it if easier. Thanks for your time, Mark Lachniet |
Re: Possible bug??: territory flips to enemy
There aren't any bugs of this "quality" in DOM for a long time .. we would have spotted and the devs would have squashed them long ago.
It could have been introduced lately by a patch, bu that is rather unlikely. What happend is: - You where under siege in turn 73 - Pangaea was in front of your gates with about 120 units - you moved in Tempestus the Windmaster and some 30 Sylphs - you set all your troops inside the castle to "break siege" - unfortunately, Pan moved in another 100+ units via Isle of Man ... Result: your reenforcements and the castle troops meet outside the walls to battle the sieging force - which nearly completely anihilates your troops. (Empty) castle changes hands afterwards. |
Re: Possible bug??: territory flips to enemy
Hint: Always leave at least one (crippled) ordinary unit inside a castle!

Re: Possible bug??: territory flips to enemy
Thank you very much for taking the time to comment.
Question - if it went down as you describe, why is the one and only battle that I'm engaged in showing them as a defender? Wouldn't I first get a message that my butt got kicked while trying to break the seige, then a second one that my castle was captured? I guess I was confused when I didn't see any message about the castle (nor about a non-defended territory being taken) Now that I think about it, it makes sense... Thanks for the tip though. I was gonna lose that game bigtime anyway http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif But its interesting - wussy undead troops seem to do MUCH better against Pangea than against Huskarls and other Jotunheim troops. Are tree huggers afraid of haints? Mark |
Re: Possible bug??: territory flips to enemy
No message if empty castle is taken - the province was already lost some turns before.
Satyrs have lousy morale: 8, while standard troops have 10, huskarls even more ... |
