What does the spell illwinter do?
 

I've had it up for about 15-20 turns and it might be lowering temperatures and it is definetly affecting my gold income.

From the spell description I was expecting to see giants show up to fight!

NO it just makes the world cold. It´s just the reverse of the second sun spell.

No, they don't. Illwinter makes the world colder, I'm not sure about the speed but for heat-prefering races this *will* be significant, and increases unrest. So everyone gets less income. It does not, however, let giants loose.

It would be interesting if Niefel Giants had some bonuses during the Illwinter, or maybe the whole theme... But ATM, the spell "just" ruins the economy of your enemies.

Heh? Illwinter makes the world colder, Second Sun makes the world hotter. So you're saying that the cold generation of Illwinter beats the heat generation of Second Sun? I considered casting a Second Sun to counter an Illwinter in an MP game once.

Illwinter also causes unrest worldwide. Not sure about the second sun.

Well, I think their *effects* cancel each other's effects. In some time. But still, some provinces will get colder and some hotter, and after a few turns they will be affected by your dominion/other global and be back at the value they started from.
