Re: SE:Starfury

IMHO SE:Starfury is an above average single player space trading/hunting game in the same vien as Privateer and Elite. (Although much simpler than the later)

You the player can follow the plotline through the campaigns and are free to take on other missions to build up your bank account. You can run escort missions, do a bit of cargo transporting, become a bounty hunter, or you can fly around and keep the various systems free of those nasty pirates. (salvaging ship parts as the spoils of battle)

All the while, gaining experience and upgrading your ships components. And when you square away enough credits you can even trade in your old ship for a bigger one and become even more powerfull.

Although SF doesn't have you actually in the cockpit, (you're floating above and to the rear of your ship) It still manages to give you the feel of flying by the seat of your pants.

Bottom line, SF is a good solid game with many hours of gameplay inside. It is also a game that still has lots of interesting possibilities for a sequel.

Re: SE:Starfury

All that is true, but after messing around with Starfury for a while, I find that it's still very limited. Suicide Junkie's P&N mod helps make it more fun but only for a little while. The game is very pretty, but everything is too simplistic, the 2D plane, the flight model, all astronomical bodies are fixed objects, no physics to speak of, etc.

This sounds harsh, but aside from being a much prettier game, I would say that Starfury is no match, gameplay-wise, for games like Elite, Frontier, Hardwar or even Privateer.
