What the heck do Abysians eat?
 

Abysians "do not farm or hunt for a living", hence their supply usage is not affected by the death scale... but what? Do they eat rocks? And if so, why will Abysian troops still get very hungry and starve if they are in a prov without enough supplies? Your suggestions for an Abysian menu needed here!

They superheat the ground they pass over. This causes the organic matter in the soil to release gas, which they breathe in and use to fuel their little internal furnaces. The death scale doesn't hurt them because the stuff they're working off of has been in the ground for a long, long time.

Sounds good, but still doesnt explain why they starve if in a province with few supplies but dont starve when in a province with lots of supplies. You must correlate supplies with their metabolism somehow, and make it go nicely with a 2001 Merlot.

They eat human farmers, whose presence tends to be greatest in farmlands and plains.

In areas with few farmers to eat, they lure them with the promise of magically fertile land (summer swords, nature magic), or bait the few remaining, hard-up farmers with wine and broth. THEN they eat them.

No no no, if they ate the farmers then the population would decline rapidly. They eat the _babies_, which only has a slow long term affect on population.

They eat a lot of fried food. Just carry around a big vat of oil and then they all stand next to it to heat it up. Then they just toss in whatever is handy. People, animals, trees, whatever.
