RPG what....
 

I only have dial up and have a simple question I have not found the answer for. Would like to know before spending many hours downloading a demo and/or buying the game.

The game page mentions this is based on SEIV and a few others, but the question is,

Is this game turn based, or real time?

One of the my limitations, is I found I fly like a wet brick, so real time flying games hold little interest for me.

Its real time, but you can slow it waay down in the final Version- all the way down to 1/8 real time if you like.

You may also note that it is a point and click flyer as opposed to a joystick.

Ever play Star Trek: StarFleet Command? It's like that, 2 and a half dimensions, the game is 3D but you move through systems on a 2D plane, you go on missions, go on quests, and somehow level up(haven't played the demo for more then 20 minutes but it was like what I always wanted SFC to be, so as soon as I had the opportunity I ordered the full.)

Just watch out for those other ships, because unless you mod out ramming damage, you'll die pretty quickly from flying into them, unlike in SFC... of course, if you do mod it out, then you can fly straight through planets... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Thanks for the replies. Will prob DL the demo and see if it trips my trigger.

There was one flying game I did ok with.... Elite Plus. But only because the game had an auto-centering option. when I turned it off, I always ended up in the eternal death tumble until I ran into a planet, star, pirate, base, McDonalds.... Then I exploded.

Point and click flying.... Interesting.

So, is the demo close to the full Version? meaning, some demos are based on original pre-release beta, but no where near close to the final/current patched Version (SMAC?)

Guess I will find out. I know me. 5 min on demo and 7x18hr full Version after the two week painfull wait. At least I have SEIVg to sooth the ache

No, its not. The ability to slow down time isn't in the demo, and you aren't shown where the ship you have to escort is on the map, either.
