What Are Stats for?

Ok, I noticed that I have a lot of player stat files, and just really want to know what I need them for? I mean is there any way to gleam useful info form these files or are they just useless numbers and, well stats?

They are just a record of the scores of each player throughout the game.

Re: What Are Stats for?

Aren't they used (and needed for) the statistical curves viewed in the game?
To see how you are doing compared to others.

Are there any programs out that can convert the data into more useable information>

SE4. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Go into the Empires screen, then click on the Comparisons button.

Didn't you read my post AT? (Admittedly it could have been more to the point like IF's latest.)

They are not downloaded as part of the zip file from PBW games. I think only your games at home produce them. I am not sure if the PBW is a programming issue, or a choice made for download sizes.

Re: What Are Stats for?

PBW generates the stats files just fine. Any game can be set to include them in the turn download files, though this option is disabled by default.

Re: What Are Stats for?

These files are not included in pbw turns because it's too easy to obtain detailed empire information from them. It's the same as if you would allow any players to see score of others. Many consider this cheating.

Not included by default, just as the Statistics page for the PBW game (which is based on those text files that SE4 generates) is not enabled by default.
