Patching from 2.08 to 2.15
 

Hi guys. After a long hiatus I'm back and finally ready to play Dominions II again. Most won't remember me, since I wasn't very active in MP. However for a time I was a lot in this forum, and some of you may own a T-shirt with my slogan on it (Dominions- Time will not be the only thing you sacrifice...). Well, business and private life took me on a wild ride... and unfortunatelly Dominions got cut of from my hobby list.
Well, that has changed now. But now I face an interesting problem: I'm still on Version 2.08 .... I did a search.... and read the tech sticky... and all I can gleam is that there are/were some problems with updating from 2.08 to 2.12+ .
Can someone please explain to me if or how I caqn update? I'm a bit anxious about just applying the 2.15 patch, as I don't want to risk busting my game...

I think there were problems with non-Windows Versions of Dominions, but I am not positive about that. I had no trouble updating my 2.08 Dominions exe to 2.14 myself (on Windows), but I only patched the game once.


If you want to play it safe, all the previous patches are still available at Shrapnel, although they are no longer linked directly on the main page. Replace the two "215" in the current patch URL by "212" (if you want the 2.12 patch), and you will download the 2.12 patch .

Appearently my fears were not at all warented. I just patched from 2.08 to 2.15 (after reading some more documentation on illwinters site). Though I'm not 100% sure that all bugfixes are now implemented..... in the very least 2.12 seems to be (Vampire queen no longer availabel for ermor, cost increase etc.)

(Hey.... the newest post is BELOW the previous one. I noticed the changed forum format... but this.... I had almost forgotten what a pain the old format was- though one could get used to it...)

Windows and Linux Version can patch directly to 2.15. If you use a Mac you should reinstall the CD Version and then run the 2.15 patch.
