Modern War

1 Attachment(s)
Just out of curiosity, is anyone desiring a modern war mod for Dominions 2? I remember reading this sort of topic numerous months ago and I really didn't put much attention to the oddball idea back then. What would you think of the mod? This discussion will be purely the fun of it, how anyone could prepare for such an impossible project with dom 2's modding resources.

The attachment image is just the tip of the iceberg...

Splendid http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

The modding system is probably not that modern friendly, but an experimental mod in dom2 will probably make more modding possible in dom3 as it lets us see what could be done under certain circumstances.

Weapon modding is lacking in regard to modern armies. Sound and graphics wise at least.

Also there will be some strange and fun stuff like chest wounded tanks. Perhaps it's leaking oil. But the same affliction doesn't fit soldiers.

If it was possible to edit projectile graphics, projectile arcs and attack sounds, modding would be a whole lot more fun and would allow many things which are currently impossible...

And explosion sprites.

In today's wars, there are no real battlefields. I think simulating pre-First World War era would show more realistic battles. It might even be easier to mod current nations to something like that. Steam Punk Ulm could be slightly redone, Abysia with lots of explosives and hero with Flame Eruption -style Flamethrower, Marignon with Musketeers, Vanheim with pistol-equipped cavalry closing to enemy with swords...

Maybe we can add new eras in DomIII? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
