Re: ship colour help
I don't know much about DOGA, I just wanted to say you're of to a good start.
A small question, can't you make the round parts a little bit more round? This looks a bit too straight. |
Re: ship colour help
No. Your parts have to seperate in order to be colored. You cannot color one large part several differant colors unless you do with textures. To do textures, I suggest you talk to David Gervais.

Re: ship colour help
Ask me about textures? I guess you can, but I mainly work in Bryce for rendering and it has it's limitations. For proper textures you'll need to make a UV Map of your model and even I'm afread of UV Maping. (Basically because I don't have any good tools for that.)
I think it would be much easier if you recreated your model and made the 'gun' parts a separate piece then adding a 'texture' would be a cinch. Cheers! |
Re: ship colour help
I can help with making a UVW map of this model. It is a matter of 5 minutes work for me.
I cans end you the maps to you for colouring and then I can put them on for you. Because of my extremely limited time I can't do many models for you. |
Re: ship colour help
Timestone you will have to teach me how to do this when you have time. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: ship colour help
The easiest way to make red tips for those guns in DoGA would be to create or select a part roughly the same style as the gun-tips on your ship, shrink/scale/flip it to fit, and then color that part, put it on top of (covering) your top gun-tip, and duplicate it around your X,Y,Z to land it on the other gun-tips as well. (That's assuming youre anal like me and actually use the mathematical mapping, of course...).
If you use DoGA-L3 yet, you can also put a glow-effect over the part. Regards, Turin |

Re: ship colour help
AT:
Haha... I do it with max 7. If you have a working version of it, just follow the tutorials and you're on the right path. There are some minor differences with the way I do it though. I use a nice plugin which can make the UVW maps much more detailed. Nothing to it, the difficult part is how you fill in the part you made the map of. I'll send you a small piece of text explaining my every move. |
Re: ship colour help
Okay AT, I've send you a mail with some directions. Like I said in the mail there many, many more things I would like to share with you, but try this first and mail me when you have problems. I'm curious how far you make it and which problem emerges first. Hehe...
Don't be mad at me if this sounds a bit mean, I'm just curious... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif |
