Lastread pointers are broken
 

Every time I return to the board it thinks that all of my pointers are 'current' -- that everything is 'read' when in fact it is not. I have tried deleting the cookies and logging in again. No change. The only thing that seems to make it track my actual reading is posting a message. When I have posted a message it will then track my actual reading. Until I exit the browser for some reason. Then I am back to everythng is 'read' by default. This is pretty strange behavior. Exactly how are the cookies and lastread pointers related?

I noticed that happening sometimes as well. It seems that sometimes, when I click on the index link, I get an all read top page. I might find myself using that link after a search. But when I go to the bookmark I made for the top page, it always appears with the read and unread messages.

I have seen no connections between posting and the lastread points: even posts where I have posted still appear as unread. Some messages are updated, but without any pattern I can see.
