Item Spells in Combat

In my last MP game, I had a C'tisian Hierodule equipped with Winter Bringer as an artillery platform. In the two battles where she had it, she never cast Falling Frost despite being scripted for (Bless)(FFx5). Is it a bug, or do path-dependent item combat spells require the wielder to have capability in that path?

No, any commander can use item spells, are you sure she was in range of the enemy?

Yea, sounds like she was out of range.

Along the same lines, will a mage with a spell item put any sort of preference on the item spell? Say, I have Abysian Anathaments wielding Phoenix Rods. If when their script runs out or they default to something else, will they use Incinerate or just whatever?

Not sure but if your Commander can do no Magic you can script him to just cast spells and he will only cast the Item spell .

So summon Devils or Banelords or Firbolgs and give them a spell item and have fun http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.
Unfortunately of course they are quite expensive but nevertheless a Standard of Damned Drainlife Squad is cool because he will cast the spell 50 turns and not only 5 and then start spamming skeletons http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Or can you force a Commander who can do magic to still cast only the Item Spell after scripts run out ?
