Good Movies

I just watched a very chilling tale about how terrorists might use a dirty bomb. The movie is an HBO production and was shown on PBS. Dirty War takes place in London and does a very effective job of making one think.

If you have a chance to see it on your local station, HBO, or video store, check it out, it just might make you think.

Mindi and I have caught this a few times in the last month. It's a very disturbing movie but it does make you think.

Few years back I heard that the Pentagon had hired several Hollywood scenario writers to devise worst-case scenarios so that the Pentagon could devise solutions to them... those Hollywood scenario writers can devise a pretty nasty worst-case scenario. Especially some of the disaster movies I've seen look very menacing.

I think it says something about the quality of the Hollywood people when the Pentagon chooses to hire them as part of a worst-case scenario think-tank.

I recall a movie that did something like that, but for the life of me I cannot recall the name. It had Tootse in it.

I'm not talking about a movie, I'm talking about REAL LIFE. I heard ACTUAL Hollywood scenario writers were employed by the Pentagon to think up worst-case scenarios. That's what I heard.

Are you thinking of Outbreak with Dustin Hoffman and Renee Russo?

Dustin Hoffman yes, but I think the movie was that he was a hollywood producer and made fake news stories for the Pentagon or something. I am not sure.

I just watched another good documentary film by Morgan Spurlock named Super Sized. It is a documentary about how a guy eats nothing but McDonalds food three times a day for an entire month and how it effects him. Man what a serious eye opener that was.

I haven't seen a movie in a long time that has scared me like this one has. Being a big guy myself I know about all of the health issues and albeit I would never sue or advocate suing a fast food company, I can see how eating that kind of food, only occationally once or twice a week, can have dier consequences.

I mean the movie really hit home, a lot of what he went through seemed really familary. Granted, and he even stated it, no one would eat fast food three times a day everyday, however, his experiment was not too far off because many people do eat fast food every day.

Honestly I was amazed at how effective this film was, I figured it to be a Micheal Moore kind of film, but was surprised at how honest it really seemed to be. Granted there where some instances that raised an eyebrow or two, but over all the movie was very effective in getting the word out that fast food is NOT good for you.

Damn, I am fighting a craving for a double cheese burger right now.. BRB, I have to find .99 cents and my car keys.
