Long Range scanners.
I have long range scanners on some of my ships. It says something about scanning one sector away. How do they work? I don't see anything with them. What are they supposed to see? Is there a button I am missing?

Re: Long Range scanners.
If another ship is 1 sector away from you, and doesn't have scanner jammers, you can see all of the components on their ship http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Re: Long Range scanners.
You can also see their supply levels, among other things: in fact, ships you can scan give you access to all the basic information you get from your own ships. Planets cannot be scanned, however.

No, one square in the system.
This is kinda confusing because "sector" can mean both -the part of the galaxy where the game is played, i.e. the map of all systems. -one square in a system. |
Re: Long Range scanners.
A sector is a small part of a solar system: it corresponds to the space taken by a planet, a sun, the speed of your vessels, and so on. So, to scan a vessel one sector away, your ships must be right next to the target for the scanning to work.

I believe there's facility scanners that have system-wide scanners.

Re: Long Range scanners.
I havn't got the sytem wide ones yet. I am concentrating on weapons and shields to defeat the piundian (Grey cyrstal monsters).
gaining ground, but so slowly. If they other 11 players (All AI) attack I will die. Only 5 of them hate me. |
