Does heart of winter work?
 

I'm playing Caelum with cold 3, dominion 5 and heart of winter.
I've some territories with dominion 2-5 each, but the Winter isn't that strong.
Even in my capital I have only cold 1-2, in all the other territories with my domionion the cold is between 0 and 2. never seen any cold 3 territory. Not to speak of territories without my dominion that aren't cold.
It does appear thet if I didn't choose mw provinces in my domionon would be much colder.
I think heart of winter is very bugged or I miss something?

First of all, I guess you are talking about the special theme "Heart of Winter" and not about the spell "Murdering Winter", right? (If so then might consider to edit the subject of your original post, otherwise I shall consider to delete this post... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif )

Second, when discussing the temperature scale, one should be aware of the effects of seasons, which may alter the climate scale significantly.

That said, there had been a few discussion about whether "Heart of Winter" actually works or not. Some people claimed that "Heart of Winter" is a necessity, some people claimed that it is bugged and that it shows no effect whatsoever. A few were undecided on that matter...

I cannot recall how the discussion ended, but my personal opinion on this matter is that "Heart of Winter" is an utter waste of design points for a Cold-3 nation having a high dominon strength (i.e. 8-10). I assume that heart of winter might be useful (and maybe only noticeable) for very low dominion scores, but I never took the time to find out for myself...

I played a Heart of Winter Caelum game multiplayer one time. The other players did ask me in person why my dominion's cold kept washig over their provinces (I think I started with a dominion of 7).

Don't forget that your original Dominion strength is the one your temples use throughout the game.

For the full effect of HoW, try taking a high (7-10) starting Dom.
