Question on Closing Warp Points
I have a Warp Closer starting at a Nexus of 7 warp points. I want to move it to a single warp point (6 sectors away) and close that warp point at the end of the turn. When I go to make the orders I move to the warp point I want to close. Then when I click on "stellar manipulation" it asks me to select one of the 7 warp points from its starting location. I just clicked one.
My question is will it actually close the warp point in my ending sector? |
Re: Question on Closing Warp Points
No. In simultaneous movement, warp closers have to start the turn on the warp point you want to close in order to work. This is true even if there's only one warp point where you start and it doesn't ask for you to choose.

Re: Question on Closing Warp Points
Well I have started on a single warp point and had no problems moving to another warp point and closing at the end of the turn. I am just not sure if works where it asks for a specific point.

Re: Question on Closing Warp Points
it will work fine if you have a single warp point at each end. and the AI can close warp points after moving with no problem (dirty AI always moves as if in a sequential game).
I have not tested it thoroughly, but trying this trick with multiple warp points will either (1) move your ship back towards the original sector to close the wormhole you specified; (2) fail because the hole you specified is not there; or (3) close the wormhole in the same place in the stack as the relative one you specified. but since i dont know which, this answer is more or less useless to you. please let us know when you find out! |
Re: Question on Closing Warp Points
I just tested it again. Unless it was changed in a patch and you're not playing 1.91, starting on one warp point and closing another will never work in simultaneous.

Re: Question on Closing Warp Points
Well we are in a stock 1.91 game and I have been closing WP's single to single. I have done it a couple of times.
In fact I have a tactic where I open a Warp Point send in my ships and destroy a planet, leave the system, then close the warp at the end of the turn. I will have to experiment with this other issue, but unfortunately this is a critical situation and if it won't work then I will have to do something else. |
