FQM Needs Your Help
1 Attachment(s)
I am having great trouble with the latest data files for FQM. I have gone through and redone the SectType.txt file to make it balanced. I added a Massive planet size to PlanetSize.txt.
When I try to create a galaxy, I get all sorts of access violation errors. I have tried removing the entries in SectType.txt piecemeal, but get the same errors even with nothing in there. I removed the massive planet from PlanetSize.txt, no dice. I know that file works, since I have been using it in Adamant just fine for a few months. So, I need you, the legion of FQM fans, to help me out here. The first to find the problem will get a special reward. Some sort of honor in FQM or something... Like a Tesco Start quadrant, but better. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif I have attached the data files to this post. You will need a full copy of FQM Deluxe to be able to make use of these. Make sure to back up your FQM data files before using this archive! Easiest way would to just rename it as "Data Backup" or something, then extract the new Data folder in there. |
Re: FQM Needs Your Help
Well, you've got Gas Giants with "None" for atmosphere in there. I changed all of them in my file and more of the game loads but it's still errorring out.
Maybe that'll give you somewhere to start. |
Re: FQM Needs Your Help
Found something else but haven't tested it yet, you have different sized ringworlds in the secttype file but no corrosponding planet size in the planetsizes file.
Edit: Strike this entire post, I loaded the planetsize file from the wrong directory. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif |
Re: FQM Needs Your Help
The PlanetSize.txt file has 3 different ringworld entries. However, I seem to have changed the "Ringworld" to be "LargeRingworld" in PlanetSize.txt, but not SectType.txt. The problem has gone away! Thanks. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif So what would you like your prize to be?
As a note: Extra unreferenced entries in SectType.txt are simply ignored. In the uploaded files, there are "Ringworld" sized planet entries that are not referenced by PlanetSize.txt. This is not a problem. The problem is when PlanetSize.txt calls for planet sizes that do not exist in SectType.txt. The only Gas Giant None worlds in there are ringworlds and sphereworlds, which exist in stock SE4 as well. They seem to just be ignored by SE4. |

Add his name to the System Names List. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Re: FQM Needs Your Help
I agree, he may not have found the exact error, but found an inconsistency. That's worthy of a system name http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: FQM Needs Your Help
There are so many system names that it would never be seen though... Perhaps a monument on a random planet entry. What is your prefered planet type and atmosphere Nodachi? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
