what i do wrong re: tdm 1.61
 

downloaded patch 1.30, reran the 1.60 mod, downloaded & ran update to 1.61. select sergetti, earth alliance and xi'chung, then set # players to medium. game starts up, sergetti, ea and xi'chung all set to human player. i set them to computer control.

but they don't do anything. i'm several dozen turns in, the 3 of them have only 1 planet each, no research or resources to speak of. other computer selected races doing fine. what i do wrong?

If you set them to human, they waiting for your orders.

I would go to the menu that allows you to quit/save empire/save game and click on players then click all but one to fill with green (puts them under computer control). If you want to check on them by all means click them to put them under your control again. you then have a choice of then giving them orders or thru ministers enabled set them on "automatic".

perhaps i was not clear. i did go to the players menu and set them all to computer controlled . . . computer seems to be ignoring them . . .

If you have started the game with empire set to human control and then on the first few turns set it to computer control (using players menu) you have to manually set its minister all on. If you don't the empire doesn't do anything (it's a bug I believe).

What you need to do is either set empire to computer control BEFORE you start the game (using 'Edit existing Empire' option) or, if you have already started the game, take control of the empire and manually turn on all of its ministers (after that got to the players menu and set it to computer control).
