AI scripting challenge
 
The web site is now up. I hope you've been slaving over a hot monitor all night to develop the mother of all AIs.

I'm not up on how to really design great AI's but maybe it would be a good idea to give awards or something for AI's that develop in other ways, say the AI that uses steller manipulation best, the AI that uses remote mining best, the AI that uses troops best, etc . . . Encourage a variety of AI's to be created for use in the game.

Encourage a variety of AI's to be created for use in the game. A varied universe is a challenging universe.

As stated on the site, there are three awards- the winner(s) of the free-for-all, the technical award, and the originality award. The judges decide the Last two by scoring each of those areas on the feedback form.

Windborne: the awards for the AI that uses stellar manipulation best, for the AI that uses remote mining best, and for the AI that uses troops best, would have not winners!!!!!
I was developing my own AI scripts, and the things that you have proposed, can not be modified using scripts...
The AI is very poor with the Stellar Manipulations and using Troops. In fact, saw somebody any AI taking over an enemy planet or destroying a star with strong enemy planets? If the answer is yes, could be one case every 1000 games.
About remote Mining, the AI simply do not use it.
No confusion: still I love the game, and changing the scripts, I got a very interesting opponent. But still the AI need improvements. The problem is that SE4 is a very complex game, and the work to do an smart AI is really titanic.
To get a good challenge against the AI, you should:
- Do not use stellar manipulations.
- Do not lay mines (but at least now, the AI is using mine sweepers a bit better).
- Do not use plagues.
- Remove the Black Holes from the quadrant generation.

If your right and many options just are beyond the AI no matter how you alter it now then I hope MM reads this and alters the program, maybe adding a setting called AI type, each type using a program that is best at using certain types of tactics.

The most drastic improvements would have to be hard-coded in by Malfador, but one of the purposes of the AI Challenge is to see how well we, the gamers (modders), can improve or alter the AI with what we have.
