PC Problem (Help)
Hello,
I am having an odd issue with my sound system for my PC. I currently use microsoft digital surround sound system, circa 1999 via a USB port as my primary sound source. It worked fine up until about a month ago when I started getting static from my right speaker. Then, without warning, it stopped working. The PC has on board sound that I do not use. Again the Digital sound system uses a USB port. The problem I am having now is that I must manually disconnect the USB wire from the sound system after start up or any period of time longer than 20 minutes where the sound is not used, in order to get sound working. Do you think it is the sound system going bad, or the Motherbaord itself? I am also beginning to have intermitant problems with my built in LAN. I have to reboot occationally in order to get connected. Any insight is appreciated. (PS, I replaced on cable already - damaged by a mouse.) |

How did a mouse damage a cable? Did you bang it around real hard?

I believe he meant a real mouse.

from what i can tell, based on what you said, it would be your mother board going bad. if it was just the speakers it could be either, ruling out the speakers would be easy if you could hook them up to another computer.
