OT - Star Wars Ep III

I got to see this movie last weekend (gloat gloat), and I have to say, it is on par with episodes IV (A New Hope) and V (Empire Strikes Back). If ep's 1 and 2 scared you away, you might want to reconsider for this one.

Now, I am going to say something shocking, and it may just be my giddiness speaking, and maybe my opinion will change in a few months, but here it goes:

Ep III is now my favorite movie of the entire series.

It's that good. Go see it!

(disclaimer: Going to see this movie makes my employer wealthier http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif )

I cannot wait to see this movie myself. Just from the previews I cannot help but think that it will become one of the better movies in the series. I think this is what we all have been waiting for as Star Wars fans. Hearing your opinions only reinforce my thoughts.

BTW, I am friggin' jealous of you now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Hey Spoon, did you happen to see that screening at Skywalker Ranch? I know someone who spent a week there as a guest. Got to see all the goodies and even had lunch with Mr Lucas. I won't say I'm jealous, but visiting Skywalker Ranch would be the equivalent of a dream vacation to me. Who needs Disneyland or Epcott Center. Put up a Glass wall on one side of ILM and let the hordes of fans get a peek inside http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I know I'm going to like the movie, because I liked them all. the only down side was Jar Jar, but he's easy to ignore after seeing the film a few dozen times.

Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

its gonna suck. and I am going to be there complaining on the first day... then a few days later with the wife... and maybe one more time... but i will hate it each time out of principal. It is the logical way to watch it from a trek fans point of view http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I've heard it's supposed to be "darker" than 1 and 2...lets hope so, the darker the better.

Tesco, I'm with you. Us Trek fans have to hate it on principle. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Can't wait. We are thinking about driving an hour to Columbus to watch it. We heard they have a theatre there showing it on a 65 foot screen in all it's digital glory. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Hey by the way, I'm a little bummed hearing Lucas say this is the last of the Star Wars movies. I distinctly remember back when the original came out Lucas saying that there were actually supposed to be nine movies in the saga. This was before Episode I came out, back around when Empire came out if I recall correctly. There was going to be the three prequels and then another set of three that took place after the Return of the Jedi. Now he says these six are all there are going to be and all there ever were going to be. Is this my mind playing tricks on me or another case of Lucas changing the past to fit what his current view is?

More of good 'ole Lucas revisionism.

Re: OT - Star Wars Ep III

Nope, Geo, you are remembering it right. But Lucas did say emphatically that there will be no more Star Wars movies after III.

Re: OT - Star Wars Ep III

With all the books published and officially recognized as canon, he'd just about have to either use the plot of an existing book trilogy, skip several very eventful decades, or cover a drastically less important/more obscure plotline than anything in the first six movies in order to make a sequel trilogy. If he ever did have an outline for movies 7-9, either it's already been published in a trilogy of novels or it flatly contradicts a substantial amount of now-official canon.
