Screen Capture
New Star Trek Federation Ship Classes:
http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/thr...356698-200.PNG Full Size Cyro Class - Heavy Cruiser back ground. Tsunami Class - Battle Cruiser for ground. |
Re: Screen Capture
What'd you do, make them in GMAX then import them to Starfury? I haven't even finished the tutorial or my test vessel yet.
Edit: of course I might just be putting more into it then it really is. I guess it's just a picture not 3D. |

The models are 3d models, the back ground is just something I had laying around.
For a ship size chart, not yet completed, but still cool to look at, take a look at the attached image. It is 1.5 megs. |
Re: Screen Capture
Nice, but the pic has a very low quality, therefor the background is a bit ungly.
Well done! P.S. I don't know if it was you AT who asked me some advise on 3DS (some time ago), but I do have a few more tips for UV maps. If you're interested or course. |
Re: Screen Capture
Hello, AT it looks like we're online at the same time again,.. but isn't it past your bedtime? lol (how do I know? well, you tend to go to sleep when I wake up, it's almost like we are one person working two shifts http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Have a great day, Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Screen Capture
Hey AT, I have a poor memory so for all I know you supplied the link, but here is a link to a site you night find interesting.

Re: Screen Capture
Yes indeed the back ground is ugly. It was all I had though.
Thank you Randallw for the link. Its funny that you mention the Ex-astris site as I get a lot of references to that site and that "Warp Nacelles must be in pairs" rule. I often have to ask people when did Star Trek started to follow its own cannon. LOL - All Good Things, The Enterpise D, a Galaxy X class Dreadnought with 3 nacelles blew this rule out of the water a long time ago. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif I also remind people not to forget the Constillation Class ship, Stargazer. It had 4 nacelles. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif The third Nacelle is typically used for the primary hull incase it seperates. In rare instances it is used to strengthen the warp field or if need be, operate as a replacement for one of the other nacelles. Warp Nacelles are generally sized limited in that they can only generate a specific size warp field. For larger ships the choices are to use larger nacelles or added an auxillary one to augment the warp field thus making the entire system more efficent. I don't recall the web page that went into great, I do mean great detail about how warp travel worked, but I do recall it was a very damning review of how Star Trek did things in the early days. I used to get a lot of email from fanatical star trek fans telling me that my ships were not cannon. LOL - like I said, since when does star trek follow its on rules? I have seen some awsome models, both real and cgi, with as many as eight nacelles and three secondary hulls. I tell you where there is a will there is an imagination. For me, well I like the way these new Post TMP/Pre STNG ships are coming. They are going to be an exlusive set, mostly for my personal use, and I doubt that I will ever release them. Hell I still have to finish the Pre-TOS and TOS-Mirror set I started. Those ships were coming out nice as well. The major problem is, I am having problems finding all of my ship models.... I cannot seem to recall where I stored the back up CD Rom. Sorry David, was unable to sleep, dark dreams and all. I am a bit tired now so I am going to try and get some rest. I will look for you later today or tomorrow. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Screen Capture
It's a great site but, and I don't like to be critical, the author seems to be taking it entirely too seriously. His answer for the Galaxy X type is that each of the 3 nacelles is a twinned pair so it works out in the end.

Re: Screen Capture
In one of the books, a warp-capable shuttle has one nacelle. That author must be drinking too much http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif
Two nacelles are determined the optimum number for power generation and vehicle control in the ST:TNG technical manual. More than two nacelles would result in easier pitch changes, however, and possibly in efficiency. Wonder why we haven't seen any starburst nacelle designs... |
