Special damage types for troops?
 
Just wondering if anyone knows if special damage types work on troops. I know that shields just add to the troop structural so obviously phased weapons don't do anything and Shields Only do normal damage. Does that mean the 2x/4x shield damage don't work or do they do 2x/4x dmg to the structural?

I'm also assuming that things like weapons only don't work properly, but do they do normal damage, or none at all?

Increase Reload Time and Disrupt Reload time. What to they do?

Point Defense/Seeker/Direct Fire on Troop weapons.... normal damage?

And, finally, Crew Conversion?

None of that matters, but I believe everything does normal damage, instead of not working (I'm not sure though).

Rate of fire, range, and damage past range 1 do not matter either. In short, only component size, cost, damage and hit points matter for troop weapons.

Actually, some special damages do matter: 4X damage to shields means X4 damage (Small Shield Depleter), so the same may hold true for other such damage types. Erh... except that Shield Depleters don't use that ability, so scratch that.

ROF doesn't matter either? Hmm. Had no idea that wouldn't matter. So all troop weapons have a ROF of 1?

They don't need to have a RoF of 1, but they will behave as if they did (you can still give them a RoF above 1, if troop weapons can be used for other hulls).

For troops, the following is true unless Fyron comes along and corrects me:

- All damage types work as "Normal"
- Shield Points just count as regular hitpoints
- All ROF's are 1
- Range is always 1

Shield Depleters don't use the 4X damage to shields ability, so scratch that part from my previous post (I have edited it to reflect that).

You forgot something: troop combat is always at range 1.

Emissive ability does not function on troops in 1.91.
