Mixing population types?
Let's say your race is O2 breathers, and you capture a population of CO2 breathers.
What happens if you bring the CO2 breathers to an O2 planet? I thought I read somewhere that this will cause the planet to be domed, but what happens to the facilities then? If you had 20/20 facilities built, wouldn't doming reduce the build space to only 4? So would 16 of your facilities just disappear? |
Re: Mixing population types?
The planet indeed would become domed. The facilities wouldn't dissappear, but instead you'd get a wacky 20/4 display where you have 20 facilities where 4 was the max. If the extra ones over the max are destroyed you won't be able to re-build them.

Additionally each population will reproduce at the planet rate (1M minimum per month) up to the domed maximum. The planet will be subject to the unhappiness effect for other population on the planet. See the FAQ for things to address unhappiness issues.
Not a real good place to be, but this can be a temporary storage location. If you have any cargo storage in ships/bases in orbit, I'd recommend moving the non-breathers there. This will undome the planet, but any population in ship/base storage won't reproduce. |
Re: Mixing population types?
With a growth rate of 10% (1% per turn), and 500M people, 20% of which are Jreanar and 80% of which are Phong:
You get +1M Jreanar, and +4M Phong. It is still a minimum 1M per race, though. |
Re: Mixing population types?
I thought the atmosphere type for the colony was dependent on what the biggest race breathes?

Re: Mixing population types?
No. Mixing different types of breathers always results in domes.
