Mercy from the AI?
 

I just had an interesting thing happen in a game with Version 1.27

I was in an overwhelmingly winning possition and had just had one of the AI's surrender so I thought, what the heck, I'll ask them all to surrender.....

And sure enought 3 others on the opposite end of the board surrendered!

The strange thing was, all 3 othem were apparently living on one single planet a piece, in the same system!, surrounded by another AI who appparently hadn't killed them???

At least that's all I can tell.... The races living on those planets were'n't the races that surrendered, but the one that was still surrounding them???

So I guess they were planets that had been captured at some point????

Or did 3 AI's just surrender that had already been killed off???

Perhaps they were PPP'd or random event Breakaways from the original empire. They'd only have one planet, and be the same population, but still be independant empires.
