Question about SE5 for those who know.

I am sure that much of the info about SE5 is off limits, but I know that some of the "official" SE5 people come here so I thought I'd ask.

I was wondering if it would be possible for the SE5 team to let us know a rough poly count range for ships in SE5. I am interested in making shipsets for SE5 and if I knew the poly counts I can expect to be limited to it would be a big help.

Of course I will understand if I get a no-can-do, but I appreciate any info I can get.

Thanks,

Joshua Fisher

Re: Question about SE5 for those who know.

Well, it is probably best to consider Screenshots #5, 7 and 8.

The ships on screen will be quite small, so you really shouldn't need many polygons to make a nice looking ship. All the details will usually be pixellated away.

Having a very high poly model to do the 2D portrait renders from might be useful, but for the small ships in game it shouldn't take many at all.

Also, the fewer polys you use, the more use your set will see in larger maps and mods which encourage large fleets.

Between 300-1000 polys for most ships, with a few more for bases.
