HEK Rules/Ratings?
I'm trying to add some superheavy artillery for my own personal OOBs plus some unique mortars, and I'm wondering
what formula the game designers used for HEK.... all I've been able to find is: Mortars: All Mortars/Rockets use HE Kill two levels up from their calibre size. Is there a formula that the designers used to get the HEK ratings for automatic cannons, machine guns, artillery, mortars, etc? Because that one snippet in the MOBHACK guide is confusing. |

If creating your own OOBS - just find something in an existing OOB that is close to what you need, and copy from that then adjust by playtesting till it does what you want. Thn run the OOB through the cost calculator to get the points in line with the other OOBS. Andy |

such as the 420mm Okha SP Mortar tested by the Soviets? A rough guideline for HEK would be VERY useful; it's really the one big missing piece in the "puzzle" that is the MOBHack Guide. We have guidelines for everything else, except for HE Kill... EDIT: Update: I might be close to getting a rough guideline formula for HEK ratings, when I have it all typed up and in a format suitable for posting, I'll post it here. |
Re: HEK Rules/Ratings?
I finally puzzled it all out.
Link to my Sheet of HEK Ratings that are 95% in line with SPCAMO's results in WinMBT |

I had charts similar to the ones you posted that I issued when this was being standardized but I cannot find them ATM so I cannot say if these are close or not with just a quick read through. The couple of mortars and guns I checked seemed OK but that was only a couple of each at random. As Andy said these were guidelines not carved in stone. If something, for example, like a rocket was known to have a small HE payload that would have been manually adjusted. Don |
Re: HEK Rules/Ratings?
I found a XLS spread sheet that I had done up when we were experimenting with different ways of rating HEK and the final version on the page matches your chart for Guns/Howitzers almost exactly. So it looks like you have that OK
30-39mm 1 40-49mm 2 50-59mm 3 60-69mm 4 70-79mm 5 80-89mm 7 90-99mm 9 100-109mm 11 110-119mm 13 120-129mm 15 130-139mm 17 140-149mm 19 150-159mm 21 160-169mm 23 170-179mm 25 180-189mm 27 190-199mm 29 200-209mm 31 210-219mm 33 220-229mm 35 230-239mm 37 240-249mm 39 250-259mm 41 260-269mm 43 270-279mm 45 280-289mm 47 290-299mm 49 300-309mm 51 310-319mm 53 320-329mm 55 330-339mm 57 340-349mm 59 350-359mm 61 360-369mm 63 370-379mm 65 380-389mm 67 390-399mm 69 400-409mm 71 410-419mm 73 420-429mm 75 430-439mm 77 440-449mm 79 450-459mm 81 Some of you rocket specs match the OOB's but others do not and that may be explained as research modifications where information points to higher or lower numbers than the chart which is just a starting point.It's been almost four years since we dealt with this. Some of the details are a bit hazy Don |

Yeah, that makes sense; I also have other charts for other aspects of the game; I'll probably be working up an autocannon chart soon. |
