Lack of resources
All,
Forgive me for asking as I'm sure its been done before. What does "Lack of Resources" mean? my warehouses are bulging with min, rad, and org. Also, is there a way to upgrade already built ships? I know there is a FAQ but its HUGE! Thanks for your patience. |
Re: Lack of resources
Lack of Resources means that you have depleted your supply of resources, minerals, organics, and radioactives and are now use more than your able to produce.
Yes you can upgrade ships by moving them to a world with a construction yard then click on the green recycle triangle on the top row of icons near the right side of your screen. Click on the design you wish to upgrade and then click upgrade. You can only upgrade designs of that are the same. For example if you select Rock Colony and Ice Colony together to upgrade the upgrade button will be darkened out. However if you select all rock colony ships to upgrade to ice colony ships then the button will show. You will see once you start to use it. The best way to slow the loss of resources to to opne your master build que, the crane icon on the left, and sort the list by USAGE. The ques that are using the most resources can be independently put on hold. Also prioritise how you colonize and go for Mineral, Organic, and Radioactive extraction III as soon as you can. Also build resource mining ships using the remote mining components, only one type of component per design, and send them to the asteroids. I like to design Mineral, Org, and Rad remote mining ships. Each ship is then sent to the best asteroid for its resource type. One ship per asteroid so make sure that you build BIG ships when you can. The bigger they are the more they mine. And the FAQ can be searched by using the FIND ON THIS PAGE search feature of your web browser. |
Re: Lack of resources
What are you trying to do when you get a "lack of resources" message? Those only appear if you:
1. run out of resources due to maintenance costs 2. try to refit a ship and don't have enough resources 3. try to convert resources that you don't have to a different type http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif You can upgrade ships: 1. Create a design for the ship which is the same hull size (frigate, destroyer, etc.) as the old design. (An easy way is to take the original design and hit the "upgrade" button then save as a new name; this will upgrade all obviously upgradeable components - i.e. shield generator I to shield generator IV) 2. Select the ship you want to upgrade 3. Hit the button with the three green arrows making a triangle 4. Select all the ships you want to upgrade in the window that pops up 5. Hit the "retrofit" button 6. Select the new design that you created from the list. Note that you need a spaceyard in the sector to upgrade ships. You may also want a supply depot in the sector if you are upgrading a ship's engines and it doesn't have any supply tanks, because the newly built engines won't have any supplies! |
Re: Lack of resources
Oh geez, I didnt think I would run out of org so fast, I saw the last number and assumed it was maxed. Thats only the max capacity. Thanks for the other tip in the ships.
