Map maker newbye questions
Hey I just started to make some maps, to play Vs Ai, but still have to learn some things, the most importants are:
-How I can define "neutral" victory hexes?? Want to say VH that are no ocupied at the start of the battle but that can give points to the army that control it?? -Is there any list of available "weathers" related to visibility valors?? So for example if 40 is clear day, what will be a rainy day? and a foggy day? What about night?? Thank's in advance!! |
Re: Map maker newbye questions
Re: Neutral v-hexes, there is a button in the editor that lets you swithc control of v-hex. One of the options is neutral.
Re: List -- I have never seen such a thing but I'd sppreciate the same. I have no idea what "appropriate" vision levels are for various conditions, although I find I enjoy the game most playing in the under-25 range. |

Quote:
You will find V-hexes in the deploy section of the scenario editor along with visibility as these are items tha belong to the scenario, and not the map assuming that you are trying to create custom maps for generated battles, and not scenarios?. The battle generator will create the visibility and the v-hexes for any custom map loaded into a battle generator game. Cheers Andy |
Re: Map maker newbye questions
Thank's for V-hexes, but about the visibility, I want to make a battle in a random map, but want to define the visibility, how can I do taht for rain for example??

Re: Map maker newbye questions
Wait for a rainy day, take some landmarks, pick up your binoculars and draw a spreadsheet! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Frankly, you can do from your own mind, you'd better the actual weather from the visibility you want, except if you have real references. You can define the visiblity when you select your battle settings, that should be no problem. |
Re: Map maker newbye questions
Stratos,
when you wish to define the visibility you must take into consideration variables like illumination (brightness), air humidity and weather conditions. For instance, you mentioned that you wish to calculate the visibility during a rain. But you didn't mention variables like the daytime hour, climatological zone and intensity of that rain. For example, a mid-day (12:00 hour) tropical rain (Rain forest) has lower visibility than a heavy rain at 19:00 (summer-time) at the Mediterranean region. cheers, |

Re: Map maker newbye questions
I also have a problem. My roads and trin lines don't go to the board edge. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Re: Map maker newbye questions
The roads will enter the grey hexes only on the "east" and "west" sides of the map. On north and south they only just go to the grey side hexes.
If this isn't what you mean exactly you'll need to attach the map so we can look at it but roads etc. will go right to the edge of the playable map area Don |
