PCI Express or AGP
If you had the choice between upgrading to a PCI Express, assuming you had the MB for it, or an AGP video card which would you go with and why?
Also what is better, a GForce 5700 Ultra or a GForce 6200 OC? (Both AGP) Is a GForce 6600 (AGP)a good video card? I am thinking about updating my GForce 5700 Ultra to a GForce 6600. |
Re: PCI Express or AGP
PCIe if you got it. If your mobo doesn't, don't out of your way. With GF6200 be careful not to get one without any RAM on it. If its AGP it will have RAM on it so its cool. GF6600GT are good cards.

Re: PCI Express or AGP
AGP is end of life. If you are getting a new board and vid card, go with PCI-X.

Re: PCI Express or AGP
PCIe most defintely...trying to find a motherboard with AGP on it is getting pretty difficult nowadays...plus their just plain faster...

Ok, thanks for the insight. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Now for sake of arguement lets say that I cannot aford to rebuild my system. Which if the AGP cards is the better card?
The 5700 Ultra, which I have now, or the 6600? |
Re: PCI Express or AGP
Blahh to both of them

Re: PCI Express or AGP
6600 RULES. Get the GT, it's better http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I have a 6600 GT PCI-X and it runs like a dream. Can run every game in existance, most of them as high as the sliders will go. The AGP shouldn't be too much different.

Re: PCI Express or AGP
Is G Force 6200 (OC) a good enough graphics cards for video creation software as well as latest games etc. Does anyone know of any sites I could look at to get graphic card comparisons?

Re: PCI Express or AGP
I have a PCI-E 6600 GT OC, it's great for me. Runs games like Farcry and other graphics intensive games at the highest detail levels. About 4 months ago it cost me $200 Canadian, should run you about $160 American if you go for one.
Cashcif: I notice it's your first post, welcome to the forums!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif As for your question, first off I have no idea what kind of graphics card would be required for video creation software, but I don't think the 6200 will run the latest graphics intensive games at their highest levels. It will definitely run them, yes, but probably at medium detail levels smoothly. It all depends on whether or not you care about all the bells and whistles. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
