TDM plus other mods?
 
Hi all,

I had to re-register because I could not find my old log-in name.

Can the TDM, PQM and Balance mods be used together? I thought I remembered there being instructions to combine variuos mods, but I has not able to find it.

TDM really only changes the AIs (Pictures\Races folder, data\formations, data\defaultstrategies)
FQM only changes the sector/system/galaxy definitions (data\secttypes, data\planetsize, data\quadranttypes, etc)
The balance mod only changes the racial setups. (data\happinesstypes, data\settings, data\racialtraits, etc)

If your destination mod does *not* change those files, then you can splice them together without too much trouble.

*Note: TDM won't work if the destination mod changes the gameplay too much. TDM AIs expect components, hulls and facilities to be similar to stock, and the scripts will be fubar if those are changed significantly. Small changes can be handled, though.

TDM and PvK Balance Mod can NOT be combined without reworking all of the AI General files. The AI will not be able to design empires very well without modification. Reworking them is not difficult, merely tedious.

FQM includes instructions for combining it with other mods in its Help folder. You can also find the same files on it's web site.

If you want to combine FQM Deluxe and PvK Balance Mod, you will have to splice the changes in Settings.txt in each mod together. FQM Deluxe changes theses settings:

Number Of Population Modifiers := 101
Pop Modifier 1 Population Amount := 19
Pop Modifier 1 Production Modifier Percent := 100
Pop Modifier 1 SY Rate Modifier Percent := 100

PvK Balance Mod changes all of the racial characteristic costs, from:

Characteristic Physical Strength Max Pct := 150
Characteristic Physical Strength Min Pct := 50

to

Characteristic Maintenance Aptitude Threshhold Pct Cost Pos := 200
Characteristic Maintenance Aptitude Threshhold Pct Cost Neg := 5

Thanks.

What I want to do first is recreate the same set up I had some time ago which was TDM + FQM Deluxe. I like the TDM gameplay chances, but the systems, planets, etc from are, IMHO, indispensible for maximum game enjoyment.

I hope SEV includes a galawy generator as nice as FQM Deluxe.

If not, I am hoping that Imperator Fyron will take on the task of making one.

YOu can always drop Richard an email and see if he can get your old log in idea reset. I know there was an advisory post about forgotten email addresses and password resetting a few days to two weeks ago.
