Need testers for \"Stand at Kamina\".

Hello one and all!
Well, this is my first ever post here, hence the greeting...uhm...not that I wouldn't greet you otherwise...unless ofcourse...nah...fudge it.
Anyway, I've finished my first ever scenario and I would like someone to just try it out and give me some feedback.
Granted, it probably sucks, but if I get some useful hints as to what needs changing I could perhaps unsuck...ficate..ehm..it.

The scenario depicts the fighting at Kamina armybase in Katanga, Congo in 1961 in which Swedish UN troops beat back considerable Gendarm forces....well...it's all in the briefing so I won't go into a lengthy explanation of it.
Anyway, if you feel like giving it a whirl just email me and I'll send the scenario to you. Or you could just download the attachment...

Sincerely yours: A_Rude_Gesture (BrigGen. Mrs.) A.K.A Rubber Duck

EDIT
It appears that I did not manage to remove the lmgs and riflegrenades from the Gendarm Squads. Also it appears that the MG's in the Swedish APC's were still there. I will rectify this asap and put up the correct version of the scenario.

EDIT2
Well...the rectified version is now up...

EDIT3
V2 is up

EDIT4
V3 (Hopefully final) is up

Just played it through, well done A_Rude_Gesture! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

Here's some tips:

You can use 'captured' as opposed to 'allied' when buying units - those units will then show the same country flag. If you use UN OOB and buy units from the Swedish OOB you'll have two unit flags UN and Sweden. If the units were bought as captured all units will have the same unit flag, rank system etc.

I'm not entirely sure but i think that if you don't place all Victory Hexes on the map, the scenario will run all it's turns before it ends even if you wipe out the enemy on turn 20.

Losses:
UN 3
Enemy 230, 2 armoured cars, all the mortars...

Re: Need testers for \"Stand at Kamina\".

Thanks a lot for the tips Wulfir. As I said, I'm all new to designing scenarios and so I haven't been able to work out all the finetuning yet. I also think that the event that I chose to portray might have been a bit difficult to replicate in a scenario, but that said I aint giving up!
Oh and the historical outcome of the battle was, at least to the best of my knowledge, UN losses 0 (confirmed).
Enemy losses Unknown, except for two knocked out AC's.

had a chance to play this one....question? did all the UN force involved have SMG's or was is just the troops at the checkpoint. It puts them at a real disadvantage with not cover...as soon as you dismount you are under fire. Also are the AT crews which arrive late supposed to have no ammo for their main weapons. I noticed in the text you added the APC's to allow the troops to get to the trench line...another possibility would be to cut and past the town and place it closer to the trench line. this one looks promising. do you have an email addy i can send more complete report. I have been doing testing also with Wild Bill so I can give you a fairly complete report

Best

IIRC that's historically accurate for the Swedes. I don't know about the Irish, Indians etc.

I think it's a feautre of the Swedish OOB - infantry AT teams carry no HE for some reason and overall less rounds than other OOBs using the GRG (Carl Gustav).

Thanks again for all the tips, just keep 'em coming. I'm putting the finishing touches to v.2 of the scenario as we speak. In regards to your question about the armament of the Swedish UN troops, desh44, they were lightly armed which proved to be a big problem throughout their stay in Katanga.

Thanks for the Info....I was not real familiar with the TO&E if those units and it always helps when testing a scenario to know this info.

Re: Need testers for \"Stand at Kamina\".

Well...I've finished v.2 of the scenario. Hopefully this has improved the scenario a bit. And as always I'm happy to get suggestions as to what could improve it, but unless there are some major work needed I'll be moving on to a new scenario depicting the Swedish UN Batallion in Katanga.
Thanks for all the usefull tips and thanks a bunch for the extensive playtest report, desh44

EDIT1
V3 is up

Well, version 3, hopefully the final version of the scenario is up. My next endeavour will probably be Operation Morthor, portraying the fighting in Elizabethville on the September 13, the day before the fighting at Kamina. So it will be a nightfight in a city. But a couple of other options are available so don't count on it being OP Morthor...
And once again I would like to thank all of you who have playtested the scenario and particularly Desh44 for his battlereports! Thanks and thanks again guys!
