Can you recover fighters in combat?

I'm sure this is a newbie question, but I haven't found the answer in the manual (cd or hard copy) - maybe I'm missing it...

How do you recover fighters in combat???

I know they auto recover at the end of the battle, but can you recover them during a battle and if so does it reset the rate of fire of your weapons (like allowing rocket pods to fire again)?

I have moved my fighters next to the carrier and tried the launch units command. I can select fighters to launch from the carrier but I cant select any fighters to recover. I also can't move my fighters into the same space as my carrier.

Is this even possible?

Try searching first next time dummy!!!

(Hey, it's okay if I flame myself, right?)

To answer my own question. When I performed a search on this forum, I found out that recovering fighters in combat had come up about a month ago and you can't.

Now no more newbie mistakes or I'll flame myself again!!!
